How much time for a Stable Position in Google?

If one works at Google and refers somebody for an internship/full-time position and the candidate performs poorly does it reflect badly on him?

  • Where Google is a placeholder for any Tier 1 software company.

  • Answer:

At most top companies, the recruitment process is geared towards false negatives. They would rather not hire someone who is up to snuff than have to fire someone that isn't. Unfortunately, this means qualified candidates can and do get rejected. Additionally, some people don't interview well, or just have an off day. With all the ways that a good candidate can get rejected, people will not inherently question your judgement. Most of the people I referred did not get hired. Most people I've talked to have shared similar experiences. When the bar is really high, and it's geared to false negatives. When there are a million ways qualified candidates can fail the interview, it does not reflect poorly on you.

No. It does reflect poorly on Google interview process. That being said if you refer 50 people and non of them goes to resume screening you might consider being more careful who you refer.
