Person A, who has lived in a cold climate (Canada), and person B, who has lived in a hot climate (Africa), meet in America in a overcooled office. Who feels less cold and why?
-
First I thought that since A is more adapted to cold climate he will feel less cold. But then i realized that normal body temp of both should be 37 degrees. So both should feel equally cold. But still I have seen that A feels less cold in real life.

Answer:
Whether one feels cold has less to do with normal body temperature than it does with blood circulation, insulation from fat, other factors I'm probably forgetting at the moment, and of course, what one is accustomed to. Although I'm from the northeastern US instead of Canada, it snowed plenty where I grew up, and is from a country situated on the Equator in Africa, so I think we'll suffice as an anecdotal sample for your question. I spent the first 28 years of my life quite accustomed to being cold in the winter, after which I moved to Hawaii, where it's always warm by my standards in my coastal town, but I just drive up a mountain if I want to be cold. My wife spent the first 27 years of her life being places that were generally quite warm; her first experience with being properly cold was during our engagement, when we flew from our respective towns to Paris for a weekend in March. To this day, she considers anything below 21°C/70°F to be cold, and will wear long sleeves and long trousers or long dresses in temperatures I find quite warm. When we go somewhere likely to have air conditioning, she brings a sweater. We've both traveled somewhat - I've been "cold" in Montréal and Poznan in December, and "hot" in Bali any time of year. My wife and daughter had an overnight stop in England last December, which was probably the coldest they've been. Like many kids, our daughter combines her parents' viewpoints, and puts up with whatever either of us dresses her in, be it long sleeves and trousers on a hot, sunny day (courtesy of mom), a tank top and shorts on a cool night (courtesy of me), or anywhere in between.
