How is a typical IT or software guy's life in Bangalore?

How does he spend his time? What are his aspirations?

Answer:
As explained by others, there is a typical routine during office days. Get up at 8 am (As my company has flexible working hour policy :-) ) Do the daily job, and start commuting at 9 am. Reach office at 10 am, sip a cup of coffee. Look for the new mails, any bug reports etc etc Go to lunch at 1 pm. Work till 7 pm Back to home at 8:30 pm Take dinner while watching TV Its the weekends where every person spend his/her time differently. Over the years, I have realized that one must have some other passion as a hobby which he/she can pursue in spare time. Be it photography, biking, partying, giving time to girl friend, camping, hiking, trekking etc etc as these all options are available near by Bangalore. This is the only way person will not be bored with his job. I prefer sleeping and coding on weekends.

's answer, plus - * Team lunches * Office politics * Constant concerns about promotions * Pub nights * Some awesome moments of getting great work done. Not that it is impossible to establish the 'typical' life. This is my 1000 feet view of what goes on, biased by what I've seen and experienced.

1. Get up at 8am. 2. If maid had come, its all hunky-dory or else wash kitchen utensils as you don't want to wash them after returning back home, having slogged 9 hours in office. 3.Leave for office. As I live very to near to my office, commutation takes nothing.(Perhaps, the only silver lining in my insipid life.) 4.Reach office. Drink two cups of black coffee. Check mails while drinking them. Head to smoke. 5. Day starts. Work till lunch time. Status reports of the previous day, reasons for defects, discussions on the work-schedule for the day, all to be looked after during the time. 6.Lunch Time. Smoke. Crib. Smoke. 7. Return back to work. Work, Work.Work. 8. Around 330pm. Smoke. Crib. Smoke. 9. Return back to work. At around 6-630, just when you're about to leave for home, you may encounter some severe issues and need to delay your departure. 10. Reach home at around 8-830. Exhausted. Tell parents that I'm alive. My voice should not indicate tiredness or sadness or else that would invite questions from my Sherlock-esque parents. 11. Watch news for an hour. Just when I am tired of hating everything about the country, I switch off my TV set. 12. Have dinner. 13. Read a book for an hour or two. 14. Sleep at around 1-2am. 15 Cycle continues.

- frequently complain about your manager on how big an ****ole he is. - look out for potential opportunities where you get a decent hike, and might get a better manager. - hate your job as you landed up here because of societal pressure - wanting to do a lot of things but you hardly get started - as Fridays approach you plan for the nearest trip either in a friend's car or by bike unless you have other hobbies. - complain about the traffic but have no choice - dreaming of having your own startup but procrastinating due to the fear of failure and fear of no regular income - it's all fancy outside but the real job the guy might be doing is excel sheet. He always wonders if this is what he scored 90+ in his board exams for. ** these are from what most of my IT friends undergo. I too face some of these issues, but on a very small level. I screwed up my academics so couldn't get into an "MNC". I'm now working in a startup and I'm the only developer in my domain. I take software development classes for people working in MNCs who will run for their lives if they look at my academic scores :P
