Medicine Career Path?

If you failed in your first year in medical school because you didn't study hard , but you think you want to study medicine . would you leave medicine and change your career path or continue in it?

  • failure in that year would affect you in the total marks and in maybe in work ....

  • Answer:

You would not be the first to fail your first year and continue on to be successful in med school. But the question is really WHY do you want to study medicine? If you weren't sure to begin with and still aren't 100% certain now, it would be hard to find the motivation needed for that uphill climb to success. If you need to take a break to get confirmation, explore other options, reflect on who you are and what you want, then you will be in a better place to make this important decision and be able to execute your decision well. Most medical doctors I know say that they would not make the same career decision if given a chance to start over. I would spend some time talking to professionals in your presumed career and see if it's an ideal fit for you. You truly have thousands of career options... the world is waiting for you to authentically put your best foot forward and contribute your talents.

If you failed your first year, you would have to repeat. Hopefully, there would be lessons learned so that mistakes are not repeated. Whether you stay or change paths is your call. Lots of people have failed in the first year and begun again and have found success. Failure in the year would not "affect total marks" because you will repeat all of it.
