In the Facebook redesign, how can I make my default News Feed be a friends list?
-
I have a friends list of actual "friends" of mine in facebook, and before I used to have facebook load that group of friends in my feed instead of the default global friends feed. With the redesign, I don't see that option -- is it gone?

As usual, this has changed again (early 2011). You can now access, among other things, the first two of your friend lists (alphabetical) under a drop down menu in the "Most Recent" tab of the News Feed. To see the rest of your friend lists, an extended list appears when you click the option to "Choose another..." Interestingly, under the same tab, you can click on Edit Options, and choose to see posts from "friends and pages you interact with most," probably using similar algorithms to those that pick which of your friends show up on your profile page. I suppose that's designed as a passive way for your News Feed to reflect who you're actually interacting with, rather than having to "hide" people, which most people don't even realize you can do anyway. But with such a helpful option tucked away in a submenu that hardly anyone knows exists, I don't think anyone's going to use it, either. Way to go, Facebook! Haha

Well you can't, at least not from the Facebook interface. What you can do, as a workaround, is to bookmark the address of the friend list in the browser and use that to access Facebook instead of the default address. You can find the URL by going to "Most recent" and selecting the desired friend list from then drop down. It should look like this: http://www.facebook.com/?sk=fl_xxxxxxxxxxxx - with an unique identifier for your list.
