From a little digging on Wikipedia, it looks like the ranges of three species in the old-world pitcher plant genus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepenthes should include the Cape York Peninsula, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them in Daintree. These three are https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepenthes_mirabilis, the wide-ranging "Common Swamp Pitcher Plant" that grows throughout Australasia, and two species found only on the Cape York Peninsula: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepenthes_rowaniae and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepenthes_tenax. Wikipedia has nice photos of all of them. There's also the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cephalotus genus which contains one species, C. follicularis, the "Australian Pitcher Plant" or "Albany Pitcher Plant" found only in Southwestern Australia, in places like the Warren, Jarrah Forest, and Esparance Plains - but of course that's the other side of the country from Cape York!
