Why does my outer ear hurt after wearing headphones?

What is a solution for the upper ear pain common when wearing over-ear headphones with glasses?

  • I need to wear my prescription glasses, but for long durations wearing over-ear or on-ear headphones hurts due to pushing my ear against my glasses.

  • Answer:

Unless you're opposed to putting things in your ears, the best solution is to just give them up and get a good pair of in-ear headphones.  Alternatively, you can get over ear headphones that clip onto your ears.  I find that they don't cause as much discomfort because they aren't pushing your ears over the glasses as much, but they have their own issues.

The best solution would be to get a pair of in-ear headphones. Or you could start wearing contact lenses and continue to use your over-ear headphones
