Which bidding websites are the best?

I am new to bidding on government contracts. Is there anyone with experience who knows about the best contracts to bid, what to look for in a contract, what websites are best, and what are the best contracts to seek?

  • Answer:

Well that's a pretty broad question.    The "best" of anything really depends on what your business and market really is.  As far as "best" contracts I'd ask what do you do?  That will at least begin to help you determine: - Does the U.S. Government buy what you sell - How do they buy what you sell (this is actually pretty important and it is sometimes more important than what you sell)   What to look for in a contract?  If you're planning to pursue an existing requirement that is expected to continue - usually a "re-compete" - it's helpful to acquire the previous Request for Proposal (RFP) to study the basic terms and conditions. Is it fixed price vs. some sort of cost reimburseable deal?  Are you billing labor hours or simply tasks?  What do the delivery milestones look like, etc.?    As for the website, FedBizOpps is the standard for many contracting opportunities, but many U.S. Government customers have multiple award Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts by which they only allow a select group of businesses to bid on a requirement.     This is a broad question to a complex topic best discussed in specific terms of what you do.  Maybe you can tell us what you do.
