How many virtualized copies of OS X server can run on a fully spec'd Mac Pro?
-
In trying to build out a more robust QA environment, which leans heavily upon virtualizing all Windows platforms in an ESXi server for testing, and I'm looking to virtualize OS X as well. Due to Apple's licensing terms, only OS X server is available to be virtualized. If I were to buy a fully spec'd out Mac Pro (dual hexacore processors, 64GB ram, several TB of HDD), how many virtualized OS X servers could be running before performance became an issue?

Answer:
Under light to medium load you can run OS X Server in 4Gb of RAM quite easily so your 64Gb would translate to about 14 copies, given that you will want 4Gb for the base level OS and 4Gb for Fusion. Are you aware of AquaConnect (http://www.aquaconnect.net/) which offers Macintosh virtual terminal services? Is that what you need?
