What alternatives to Salesforce1 Platform (ex Force.com) are out there for a data integration platform/B2B app ecosystem?
-
Having a closed, in house business support app, I'm researching for the best option opening its data up. It does have a low level, proprietary API, so instead of integrating other services one by one, we were thinking that it would make more sense to make the data available through a dedicated B2B app data integration platform and make use of the existing integration ecosystem there. Salesforce1 Platform came up as a good choice due to the size and capabilities, but it seems quite expensive and the pricing model is very confusing. So what we're looking here is not a SaaS vendor which would do several business supporty bits which we're then locked into, but a data platform we can integrate into which has multiple solutions to each functional module. For example with Salesforce 1 Platform you can search on AppExchange and in case of expenses get a choice of several vendors: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/results?keywords=expense So what similar other platforms are there which tick these boxes (in priority order): Data integration / synchronisation Data aggregation / business intelligence Existing B2B app integrations / ecosystem Event triggers / user friendly workflow creator Single sign-on / identity management

Answer:
There are a lot of alternatives to force. com. But the http://force.com is ahead of everyone according to Gartner. You can review those in the graph. I personally see a lot of opportunities working with amazon web services(if prices are affordable). However, they might not have such rich database of other apps. I advise you to look through related questions in Quora too:

If you are looking at http://Force.comhttp://orce.com an development platform for the cloud, you should absolutely look at OutSystems Platform (http://www.outsystems.com/). There are several options playing in this category of Platform as a Service (PaaS) but be aware of: - scalability - ability to grow apps to support millions of users - lock-in and proprietary runtimes - mobile/multi-channel support - for front-end and back-end development. http://www.outsystems.com/#/platform/2-minute-overview/.
