  • Answer:

I recommend approaching your local or national dentistry or medical body to make sure that you are allowed to practice. Dentistry affects people's health and is subject to all sorts of rules and regulations. Once that's out of the way, I suggest you find an apprenticeship with someone willing to take you up. Note that there may be a lot of reluctance here. People will obviously want to know why you are coming back after such a long time. If you open up your own clinic, it will take quite some time before you get a steady stream of clients. In the Netherlands people visit their nearest medical practitioners but in India people travel long distances only to visit a reputed doctor or dentist.

I would suggest you to go to a clinic and get exposed to practice by some shadowing and observing while you attend some continuing education program. You can also go to nearby dental school and do some shadowing and stuff. Read up and talk to the faculty there. You 'll do great, I am sure!

I agree with contacting your board to see what you need to do to reinstate/reactivate your license. You probably need to catch up on your CE credits. If you've never practiced, I would REALLY stress and reinitiate your resume/CV.
