Why do people blame video games for all of societies problems?

Can playing video games make one faster at doing math/physics problems?

  • http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/9758391/It-takes-more-than-an-IQ-to-describe-how-our-brains-work.html "Regular brain training didnt aid performance at all, yet people who often played other types of computer games did significantly better in terms of both reasoning and short-term memory. It seems the popular idea that brain-training games are helpful whereas standard computer games are somehow bad for us could be the wrong way around."

  • Answer:

I would say yes. My mother bought a few Brain Games for the DS awhile ago and noticed a significant improvement in her memory, math & spelling skills after a few weeks of usage. I think because of the nature of games which are based around childish yet fun activities, we forget that learning in a fun environment is just an easier teaching technique. I discovered a few articles online, sorry I can't reference them here but the articles stated introducing games to complex theories or subject matters caused a significant increase in retention and understanding of the those subjects. Basically making learning fun, makes learning easier.
