A Registered Number or RN is not required, (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/rn/rnfaq.shtm) for manufacturing or retailing (as I understand). Is there any benefit carried with having a RN?

I want to make sure I cover all bases the FTC site says, you don't need a RN, that you can just use your company name. Well then what is the purpose?

I dug into this and didn't find any benefit to using an RN if you're not relabeling other companies product.
