How does one get people to enter an email to try out a product when it's ready?

  • (When your product is still in early beta) Are there any scientific ways you've learned?

Create a placeholder website. Describe why a user should wait for your product (describe the value, not the features). Make the site look reputable (this is important because users know their email addresses have value). Add an email newsletter signup form - make it incredibly dumb and easy.  Tell them they will receive something (news + early beta invite). Work your ass off to not disappoint the user / potential customer. Follow up on your promise when the product is in a public beta stage. You can split-test or look towards other company's split test results, but it might be a waste of time if you don't yet have a product to market.
