What can I expect when I do a computer science major?

I am thinking of getting a master's degree in either computer science, software engineering or information systems. What topics are covered in each and what kind of job roles can one expect?

  I can tell you from the perspective of Indian colleges and institutions. All these are overlapping names of computer courses. While I was doing BCA ( Bachelor of Computer Application ) , there was much uproar to change the name of bachelor degree to BIT ( Bachelor of Information Technology ). Similarly MCA ( Master of Computer Application ), Mtech ( Computer Science ) , MIT ( Master of Information Technology ) are overlapping names of similar courses. Instead of just going by the name of course, Dig deep to find following - 1. Subjects of the course at a particular institute - as MIT at a particular institute might be having same curriculum as MCA of another. 2. Years of Education ( it may vary between 2-3 years depending on institute and course ). Some institute in India offers MCA as 2 year course if you had bachelors in Computers. 3. Placement and Job avenues after completing the course.
