Can you prevent another app from opening within your app?

Is Apple trying to use backhanded excuses in order to prevent my app from being available on the app store?

  • I submitted my app to the app store over 3 weeks ago and after a lot of waiting and back and forth, Apple insists that in order to be approved, I would have to add a feature that is entirely unfeasible for the type of app this is. It's a person-to-person messaging app and they are requesting that "Users need a way to flag or report objectionable content and users generating this content." This would be impossible to do, as users expect privacy and nobody else, including moderators, should have access to their messages, especially since the selling point is that the messages are ephemeral. Furthermore, popular existing messaging apps do not have any such reporting feature, other than simple user blocking. At this point, I'm under the impression that this is nothing more than a backhanded way of denying this app simply because they don't want any more messaging apps in the store.

  • Answer:

When I submitted my first app, Apple initially blocked it. They asked me to add features which I didn't want to add. I went back and added few more features. And then finally Apple approved my app. The secret? Integrate Apple services in your app. Use Apple Maps, iCal integration and other Apple-only services and the chances of your app being approved will be higher. Best of luck. In my experience, Apple store is the only store which matters. Play store doesn't compare with it.

Even if it is what you think it is, that doesn't change anything. Either you do what they're asking, or you don't get to be on the app store. Sucks, but that's the nature of the beast.

I heard sometimes deleting the whole content of the submission and resubmitting it as a fresh content may help you out to get it published. Because, when you submit it as a fresh content, the probability to get your app reviewed by another reviewer in the apple team will be high. He may approve it. I just heard of it through my friend. I never tried it. Just give a try on it, if you don't have any other option.
