Would guys approach a quiet and modest girl at prom?

Is it true that if a girl is a topper, then guys do feel a bit inferior and never approach her? Or do they simply not like a nerdy girl?

    Thanks for A2A We cannot generalize this part - "Guys don't approach a nerdy girl because they feel inferior" I can answer based on my experience. I have couple of guy best friends and I do talk to lot of guys in college. These are my observations. 1. Most of guys feel girls cannot be both beautiful and brainy. Guys are egoistic in terms of knowledge/smartness. You show some smartness or beat a guy in logical conversation he can get pissed off easily. This is because they sometimes cannot accept girl is smarter than him. This thing is wired in their brain unfortunately. 2. If a girl is extremely smart then lot of guys have crush on that girl and there are lot of guys who are jealous on her. Inferiority or jealousy (both are outcome of ambition or goals) are major reasons for not approaching Conclusion: Lot of guys like smart girl 3. As we grow up or go into professional group you will find few men who are extremely interested in smart girls(geeky rather than nerdy) more than beautiful girls. For a smart guy, its very tough to stay with beautiful girl with no brains. He will always pick smart girl. Conclusion: nerdy doesn't mean smart. Liking/Not liking is temporary. Our male instincts are conditioned to be attracted to the mysterious but what messes up the this process is the fact that our self esteem and confidence takes a severe beating when we figure out that in terms of skill talent and knowledge we are a little lesser than her. Nerdy girls can be cool but if you visualise nerdy as only wearing spectacles having thick books thick hairy plaits then your probably being very judgemental. The approach matters, your attitude matters, your willingness to accept and understand your lack of abilities matters and readiness to improve it to a stage where you can confidently approach her matters.
