What can the Amazon Appstore do to catch up to the amount of apps in the iOS App Store or Google Play?

It seems amazon is already in action. Last year alone they tripled the amount of apps in their store. Nearly 200000 apps were added last year alone. If it grows in this rate, it could catch up the play store in few years.

Amazon is already catching up with the other app stores in terms of absolute number of apps, but there are other nuances to its strategy that can make it almost equally successful to iOS and Google Play in the long run, if not in the near term. Here are a few things we can speculate that Amazon might do. Depth of search In addition to the absolute number of apps in the App Store, there could be finer metrics that measure the % of times a user searches for an app and finds it in the App Store. These numbers would need to be compared across Appstores to determine which Appstore is better. And maybe Amazon has a good shot at that. After all , they've mastered the science of delivering relevant results to a user across its e-commerce or digital properties fine tuned by user recommendations and analysis of purchase patterns. Bigger might not always be better. So Amazon Appstore can work towards improving discoverability of apps. Granted that a smaller Appstore such as Amazon's Appstore might have a  smaller reach in terms of hardware devices, but getting a new app noticed on the Amazon Appstore where it could be relatively "easier" to float up in rankings  could be a good bet for developers. There's opportunity for both , Amazon and the developer to improve the discoverability of apps. Localisation and Internationalisation There are some important trends specific to the Asian app market that Amazon could leverage 1. Japan , China and South Korea are the market leaders in Asia with more than 100% growth each year. Users in these countries prefer localised apps. Amazon has opportunities to provide platforms for localisation of apps to the developer community. 2. South Korea , Japan and Taiwan are dominated by Google Play. There is opportunity in the Android playing field in these countries. 3. 3rd party app stores are popular in China with a very fragmented market with more that 20 app stores. The problem with Google Play in China is that no paid apps can be sold. Another concern is that of piracy.
