I'd like to set up a UK charity. What do I need to know?
-
I have a cause that I believe in, which is not currently supported by any recognised charity in the UK. My cause would definitely qualify for charity status but I don't know how to translate my interest and belief into the set-up of a charity. The cause is small but pertinent and relevant to a broad audience. I want to establish the charity and them work over the next year on gathering other people to work with me. If I were to consider setting up a very small national charity in the UK, what would I need to consider?

Answer:
If you are in England or Wales start here http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/. Scotland start here http://www.oscr.org.uk/. Northern Ireland start here https://www.charitycommissionni.org.uk/ As I understand it the fact that you register in one place doesn't restrict your activities to that country but you need to verify that.
