Would there be a way for browsers within iPhone apps (e.g. the web browser within Facebook's iPhone app that loads links for you within the app) to securely get your cookies from Safari on the iPhone?

At the moment, for example, if you click on a Quora link within the Facebook iPhone app, Quora will load within the Facebook app, but you won't be logged into Quora (even when loading Quora from Safari would log you in).

Answer:
My understanding is that Safari instances run from within apps are sandboxed (with different sessions and/or cache). You can use HTML5 persistent storage to pass data across session instances. I don't have example code, but this is the reference site: http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/iPhone/Conceptual/SafariJSDatabaseGuide/Introduction/Introduction.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40007256-CH1-SW1
