Answer:
You'll find a lot of amazing trekking places ranging from a couple of hours to overnight travel away from Bangalore. I personally recommend Kumara Parvata (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pushpagiri) if you feel you are fit enough for this challenging trek. That apart Kudremukh, Skandagiri, Thadiyanmol, Mullayanagiri are places you can plan to explore. The Bangalore Mountaineering Club (http://www.bmcindia.org/) organises weekend trekking trips to the popular destinations mentioned above and more. Whichever location/trek you pick, make sure it's safe to go visit in the monsoons and take adequate precautions-leeches can be a pain :( Hill stations like Yercaud, Wayanad, Ooty can be easily covered over an extended weekend too. Have a great time! Edit: I didn't mention done-to-death touristy places like Nandi Hills but you could totally rent bicycles and ride up there for that dash of adventure. Also check out this site: http://www.meetup.com/cities/in/bangalore/ The Adventure & Rock Climbing interest group here is pretty active-gives you a lot of options to explore new places and make new friends enroute.

Since it's summer, I'd suggest giving Gokarna a miss. Coorg would be a good choice, Ooty, Kodaikanal & Mysore are the usuals. Apart from that you might want to try Scuba diving and Snorkelling at Netrani. You can always search for the treks organized by Bangalore Mountabeering Club in the weekends if that's something that might interest you. Have a great stay at Bangalore !!!!
