Does the resumes section of Craigslist attract anything other than spam? If so, does it ever lead to real jobs?
-
As I search for jobs in Chicago, my Craigslist "resume" posts have attracted nothing but inappropriate responses, from baby-sitting gigs in California to people trying to sell me something. Does Craigslist have a better "Job Wanted" section? Would recruiters know to look under "resumes" at Craigslist? Is it a waste of time to advertise for work at Craigslist?

Answer:
As a recruiter for 10+ years, I have only reviewed resumes one Craigslist a handful of times, back in the early 2000s years ago. The one hire I made ended from Craigslist up being terribly problematic (and eventually was terminated), so I never returned there. The quality is just not there, in my opinion. You'd be better served building your LinkedIn profile as that's where many recruiters spend most of their time these days. Good luck with your search in the windy city!
