What is the most outrageous piece of art you have ever seen?

What is the best piece of graphic art or graphic design you've ever done or seen?

  • This includes any electronic creation you've made or seen. Whether it be a website, artwork or even advertisements.

  • Answer:

For me, the London Undergound (ie subway) map designed by Harry Beck in the UK in 1931. Beck realised that because the subway lines were underground their geographical placement was less important than their topological positions. That basic design  concept has been widely copied or adopted for other network maps around the  world. Given that graphic design is all about the communication of information, Harry beck found a graceful and informative way of simply displaying complicated information. A bona fide design classic. (I also tip my hat to Edward Johnston for the font which adorns the poster; quintessentially English but universal in its accessibility.)
