How can an individual get sponsorship for attending a conference?

What is the best way to get funding, in IIT Kanpur, for attending an international conference?

  • We are graduating students of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur and our BTP has been selected as finalist for Antenna AP-S Contest to be held in Memphis, Tennessee. Unfortunately the funds we have received from the conference is not sufficient to cover the cost of our entire team (Comprising of 4 members). What are the best ways to get support from the institute for attending that conference? We also have a paper entry for the conference. It would be great if you could share the exact details as well as procedure from same.

First of all, institute will not support the trip of 4 member team. It will only fund one member of the team. So,first get the copy of invitation letter, accepted paper and acceptance mail. 1) Ask your mentor if he has some funds (ex- around 10k ) 2)Write an application to HOD for getting 20k from EE dept. 3) Write an application to DoSA and get it forwarded by HOD. DoSA will give you 10k. 3) Fill a form available on DRPG website http://drpg.iitk.ac.in/online/automation/itravelgrant/student/index.html 4) Submit the hard copy of all the documents to Neetu Mam of DRPG office (Ph. no: 7542 ) to get around 50k from the office. 5) You can request them to give the funds in advance ( you have to write an application for it ). 6) Enjoy the trip and keep all the bills and receipts safe. 7) Submit all the bills showing your expenditure in the account section once you come back. 8) Apart from this, you will get $50 per day for fooding for which you don't have to show any bill :) Hope this will help, you can contact me on FB as well.
