How can I convert PDF files to Amazon Kindle format?

  • I have an android phone with Amazon kindle app. I want to convert PDF files and read it in my kindle app. Will it be possible? I have PDF files on my system I want to make it Amazon kindle readable so please suggest how can I do that. I want to read books in Amazon kindle format.

    Things to do before you convert the files to Amazon format.1.Go the Amazon site and add your email to the settings. 2. Now your device will have a unique email id. Go to Manage your devices in the Amazon site and find out ur device's email id.3. As it has been already suggested in the earlier answers , pdf conversion isn't a good idea. It will be better to use some pdf reader for viewing your pdf files. If you still want to go ahead with conversion then the following will be your best options : 1. Calibre - It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux. It  is one the best book conversion tools available presently. 2. Use Amazon's personal document delivery service - you'll be assigned a unique kindle email address when you install the kindle app, mail your pdf document on this address, and in the subject line write 'convert' , Amazon will automatically convert your pdf to mobi and it will then appear on your app.

I think Kindle App can directly read PDF. But PDF is a fixed format and if the page size is large reading it on mobile is not a great experience. While googling can lead you to format converters (Try PDF to Mobi conversion), PDF to any relowable format converion is far from satisfactory. There is a basic technical problem here, because PDF (by its design) doesn't store enough information for reflowing the content correctly. Instead try some PDF readers on your mobile. They might do a better job of slicing PDF for reading comfort.
