What does an assistant manager do?

What is the average salary of an NBA general manager AND assistant general manager?

  • Also: How do their roles differ? I've seen numerous "assistant general managers" for NBA teams with a law background and their role is to be the team's number cruncher (to keep close tabs on the salary cap). Just wanted some more info about what those positions make and what roles they perform on the team.

  • Answer:

wide ranging due to the uniqueness of the Team Ownership structures but best to look at low floor of 300k plus incentives and then high floor if plus 2+Million... usually if resumes has championships and budget cap understanding.  What has made the NHL by example a successful league is that Commish Gary had been arguably one the greatest "player salary cap legal experts" in the room as it related to ownership values...  Nothing increases value in a team than winning on a field or could or sheet of ice...The rise in gate revenues, local marketing dollars and net-net increases cubically if team play success is found and a GM has a direct connection to that success... It really does not matter what sport.  IMHO - Sixers GM Sam may be the best current GM in NBA... look at his overall track record and not anyone year... by 17,18, 19 - Sixers will be a perennial NBA title threat team for the moves they have made since Sam and team president came to team.
