What are some interesting companies like Architecture for Humanity?

Architects without Borders is another you might check out.

Here are two organizations worth looking at - both use design thinking to develop solutions for tackling poverty: Kounkey Design Initiative (http://www.kounkuey.org) and Design Impact (http://www.d-impact.org). The former is more architecture-based, and the latter, more product-based. Traditional non-profits would do well to learn from their approach. Take a look at some of their projects on their websites.

We do this because we want to be active members of our community, we see the opportunity for positive change in our community and most of all because we love our community! To keep on the trend of archtecture, MASS Design Group is another one to check out (http://www.massdesigngroup.org). I'd also be interested though in hearing about other organizations or firms either doing interesting things not just in architecture but in any industry that's not usually worked in or an organization/firm that works in a typical industry in unorthodox or innovative ways.

Makesense (http://we.makesense.org/) is an interesting community using design thinking and open source type approaches to help social entrepreneurs (Full disclosure: I'm a member of it)

Public Architecture is a great organization based in San Francisco. Their 1% Program matches nonprofits with designers offering pro bono services. Check it out!
