How to extract parts of (La)TeX document?

What are some standard ways to add abbreviation section in the end of a document written in LaTeX?

  • E.g. I don't need to automatically extract the abbreviation from the current document, I can manually build the list.

  • Answer:

    You want glossaries or nomenclature. Example using glossaries: https://www.writelatex.com/1313834whftjg \documentclass{article} \usepackage{glossaries} \makeglossaries \newglossaryentry{hep}{% name={HEP},% description={High Energy Physics}% } \begin{document} Lorem ipsum dolor, I work in the \gls{hep} building. \printglossary[style=long] \end{document}
