Where should I install SSL - whole domain or on a subdomain?

How do I setup a subdomain multisite wordpress installation with buddypress in another subdomain?

  • Wordpress is currently installed on http://blog.example.com. Don't want it installed in root. I am hoping to add multisite and and add http://buddypress.example.com. When I try to setup multisite the only subdomain option I am given is http://blog1.blog.example.com.  Buddypress-enabled wordpress site would then be http://blog2.blog.example.com. Obviously, a sub subdomain is not ideal.  Any ideas? Or is it easier to use separate wordpress installations for the two different URLs? Related questions

    Multi site is generallly installed in the root directory. For your case it may be easier to install separate installs. Or else convert the blog to be a part of buddy press. That might make some interesting dynamics and interaction. :) Arlen http://Hawaiiwp.com

Yes, what you want to do is possible if the 2 sites are separate installs (each subdomain pointing to a different document root). Sounds like the issue is your current server setup (or limitations of your host). Open a support ticket there as it's hard to say what yo do without knowing the details of their setup and capabilities.

Here the method currently I'm use to create subdomain work with Osclass installed on root (public_html/)1. Login to your cpanel 2. Find subdomain and create new 3. Type * on subdomain name input text field and hit Create button 4. Edit your config.php, findAnd now you are good to go.
