What are the best ways to do marketing via internet?

What are the ways find freelance internet marketing work online that pays at least $50/hour?  I already use Elance, the rates on oDesk are also too low.

    This is not the easy answer, but it's the only answer that works. If you want to make $50+/hour, you are not looking for freelance gigs, you are looking for gigs where people need serious expertise. The best way to show the world you have that expertise is to define your niche, and start a blog that showcases your ability to be that expert. Write about it. A lot. Start conversations. Start fights when you disagree with someone. You have to build a personal brand so when someone is looking for the best person to solve problem X, you are naturally that person. Sorry, no easy outs. To get paid $50+/hour, you need people to understand why you're worth $50+/hour. And that means you have to demonstrate that value to them.

The most I made on Elance was $40 an hour and that was because I am in a specific niche (grant writing). I make more $60-$95 an hour with private clients. Because I have a specific skill that is in high demand, I can command a higher wage. Although a lot of people won't pay that and I say fine and move on. Personally, I think relying on oDesk and Elance is a risky venture because of the intermediary aspect. Also, the anonymity on it is odd and isn't good for building relationships. Although I post my full name on Elance and luckily I'm easy to Google. There are some niche writing markets out there that are highly profitable such as resume writing, medical writing, and financial writing. Sure, it takes time to break into those fields. But all of us started at the beginning and had to learn through writing in the conventions of our craft.
