What steps do I need to take as a 21 year old wanted to start a tutoring business?

I want to start a tutoring business but I don't have any money to invest, employees, or a car, what steps would you take if you were me to run a poplular tutpring business to earn some good profit, in a community where it is in high demand

Answer:
None of the things you listed should be holding you back. As long as you can walk or bike to a coffee shop or library, and have access to a computer, you're in business. First, get as many personal referrals to customers as you can. As a backup, post on Craigslist or check out other free local places to post your ads. Offer a discount or free first lesson if you have to, to get your first pupils. Work superduper hard to make sure you're mind-blowingly helpful to them. Your best marketing plan is to do amazing work for the customers you already have, and always be looking for referrals. Offer free sessions for any pupils who bring in a paying referral (if you need to and you're not getting new customers on your own). Go above and beyond with each person to be sure no one leaves you (it's far more expensive to find new customers than keep your current ones.) Keep re-investing in adding more customers, and as you start to be booked up completely, raise your prices. You'll be well on your way!

Go upstream of your customers. Ask yourself, in your location, who knows many of the people that need and can pay for tutoring? Who is upstream of the people you want as clients? Then ask yourself, how you would you prove to these people, upstream of your potential clients, that they should recommend you? I'm guessing K-12 schools and the administrators and teachers in those schools. If you volunteered to tutor a handful of students to prove your abilities, I'm guessing word would get around and you'd have a business.

It is not clear whether you want to tutor your self or want to employ other people and work as a tutoring company. If you want to teach yourself then you may not need infrastructure. Otherwise I do not think it is possible unless you have a group of committed co-workers who can put in their effort and begin on a small scale.

I myself am a full time tutor. I started out part time but eventually grew it into a full time career. I wrote a book and filmed a video course on how to start your own successful tutoring business. You can purchase these relatively inexpensive learning materials by clicking through the link in my bio(click my name above). If you don't have a car you can always tutor online or situate yourself at a local coffee shop or library and work from there. As far as money you don't need to invest too much to start getting your name out there. Start telling family, friends, and other tutors that you are offering tutoring. Make use of social media to get the word out. Contact local schools and see about getting on their professional tutoring list(sometimes there is no charge) Once you start earning some money I would reinvest a portion of it into improving your business. First off I would research an inexpensive website such as those offered through Weebly. Second, I would do some advertising and print up some flyers. Third, I would invest in learning from other experienced tutors such as myself by purchasing my book, video course, or getting some private coaching. Consider this: Investing in yourself pays dividends. If you have further questions don't hesitate to reach out and contact me.
