How to get initial reputation on Stack Overflow with the new-user restrictions in place?

What is a good place to troubleshoot for problems concerning Linux or other programming languages?

• I use stackoverflow to get a lot of problems solved. But stack overflow has too many restrictions on what kinds of questions can be posted. Is there some other collaborative site where you could ask others to solve problems for you especially concerning programming and web development?

  As far as programming languages go, i'd say stack-overflow for the win.If you have a question pertaining to some specific programming concepts,you'd probably be better off using other sites from the stack exchange network, such a http://gamedev.stackexchange.com for questions pertaining to things such as the Direct-X and Open-GL  for example . Answering your questions about Linux - pertaining to some frameworks or distributions,personally i feel if you have a "small" question(a question relating to some concept etc., rather than a hundred lines of code, i suggest you check out the IRC channel of that particular organisation. I feel the people there are usually really welcoming,plus you have the option of explaining your doubts in real time,so there's that. I have to deal a lot with GTK+,and I've never once been disappointed by the gtk+ community - #gtk+ on the GNOME IRC network(and not freenode).I get all my doubts solved by them.It's basically dependent on what suits you better. For topics such as the C programming language the stack overflow community is so big you almost never need to look sideways, however regarding lesser used technologies,i feel IRC is better.  Hope this helps :) .
