How do I teach myself how to make videos for YouTube?

Why are YouTube videos showing up as still images instead of viewable videos?

  • I used to be able to paste the video URL into a question details, or an answer, and an embedded video would show up. The last two tries, that didn't work. I ended up having to show the link as a raw URL. Otherwise, it showed as a still image and was not clickable. There was no indication it even was a video, much less a clue on how to view said movie. Is there some trick to make my videos work or did I just happen to select two videos in a row with some sort of restrictions on sharing? The first problem one was in the details to this question: The second was in this answer: Edit, suggested an edit to the math answer immediately above and that worked to produce an embedded YouTube video. I'm still not sure how he did it, though. :-)

  • Answer:

First, I must add, that I fixed both instances and now they seem to work fine. The first instance somehow linked to something completely different, and in the second instance, you copied the embed link instead of the video URL. I think the univerasal guide to inserting a video, is to go to the video, copy the URL in the address bar, and paste that into the Quora answer. If you do this correctly, a still unclickable image will load. This is correct. The video will be playable after you add the answer. Message me if you have any further problems.
