What is God? How much surety can you have to spend your time doing religious things (pray, read quran, etc)? Please see description for other questions?

Is it (or he) capable of having empathy and understanding our emotions and suffering? If so, wouldn't that make it like a person? If that's the case it also compels you to think that it was something created by us. And if it's not than why invest time praying, reading the quran, etc? What evidence is there or there any way of proving that it wasn't created by us or that it even exists, since I don't think you can see it directly? It seems, the universe could have just developed randomly and what seems like order is just a result of this randomness? Why is it necessary for existence to have been created? Could it just be something we created to try to make sense of whatever we perceive around us, or as a way of telling ourselves that everything will work out the way we want it to (in other words, there's some protector figure who will take care of you and make everything just perfect, etc)? It gets scary when you have hope and you can't even see this protector figure so instead of rationally based on what you see and have evidence for do things you spend your time praying, etc.

What is God? I don't believe we have words to answer this. God has to be experienced to be understood. The closest words we have to describing God are true love. Why pray? You could ask a secular psychologist, why meditate? Why practice mindfulness? Why forgive? Why love? He/she might go into all the scientific explanation, but, at the end, the experience would be similar. Why read? For the same reason that you might read Einstein's relativity--to learn. I read spiritual books to better understand myself and how I can better interact with the world around me.
