What does Phish need to do to get a banner at Madison Square Garden?
-
Phish has played MSG 31 times, including New Years Eve eight times. The Grateful Dead, who does not have a banner in the arena, played there 52 times, the most for a band. Elton John has the record for the most concerts at the venue, with 64, and a banner. Billy Joel also has a banner.

Answer:
As much as an important act as Phish has been to MSG, I doubt that they would get a permanent banner in the venue like Elton John and Billy Joel each have. I can see a temporary banner, on display only during Phish concerts, similar to the Martina Navratilova banner that was only up during women's tennis events in the 1990s. A Phish banner could commemorate the number of NYE shows at the venue, or, if they beat the Dead's record, number of shows at the arena.
