What is the best way to travel around the world?

What is the best way to leave a newly started career role and travel the world finding what I love best?

After taking a career role in a Fortune 50 company, and finding I am very good at what I do, I've also learned I'm unhappy not being able to travel and discover new things anymore. How do I take those steps to set out into the world again? I don't have much savings, as I have taken most of my bonuses and my savings and invested them in startups around the world.

  A great way to start traveling regularly is to build a list of the places you would like to visit and arrange them by affordability-- we were able to spend a month in Spain for about 1/4 the cost of a 1 week trip to the Galapagos islands via a National Geographic cruise. One way I found to travel on a low budget was by doing volunteer work through Earthwatch, or any of the other organizations such as Habitat for Humanity or A Broader View Volunteers. The reason they are affordable is that the costs can be deducted on your US income tax, they don't charge much extra for travel as a single, and the price tends to be all inclusive for food, lodging and local transport. Most offer entertainment in addition to work. Another method is via camping, although the cost is much less if you camp as a group. The Automobile Association of America AAA has guides to campgrounds as does KOA. We found many campgrounds in Scandinavia, much to my surprise.
