Should the Austrian Monarchy be restored and the republic overthrown?

Would a Scottish Republic resolved to abolish its monarchy immediately transition to a full-blown Congressional Presidential Republic with a strong, separate, partisan executive branch headed by a powerful president, as is the case with the United States?

  • Or would an abolition of the Monarchy in an independent Scotland result in a mere Parliamentary Republic, continuing a Westminster-style fusion of the Legislative and Executive Branches, with a ceremonial President, as in the Republic of Ireland?

  • Answer:

Too hard to do immediately. No demand that I know of. Can't think of any Commonwealth countries with a strong-president system.

No country in the world would take on the US system. It is 200 years old and absurdly out of date. In the 250 years since 1777 not one country in the world has adopted the shambolic "constitution" of the US. Strong presidents lead to tyranny. The US prevent this by essentially being ungovernable. Most countries understand the need for effective governance, so have a weak or ceremonial president, with an effective parliament. Scotland will be a European style constitutional monarchy like all the World's great democracies. Britain, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Her Majesty has already agreed to continue to rule over Scotland
