Why is learning assembly language valuable to a company?

I have offers from two great companies. Should I go for the offer at a data integration company, or the offer from one of the biggest game developers and publishers?

  • I am a fresh graduate in B.Engg Computer Science. Both MNC's are good. Company A is a Data Integration company, which is offering me a position as Software Engineering their Cloud team. Their package is very good. In fact it is on par with some of the top packages in India. They are situated in Bangalore and hire via a tough interview process, which implies that I would be working among the best. Company B is a one of the biggest Game Developers and Publishers. They are offering me 8 months internship as Junior programmer. The possibility of me getting placed there after the internship is not an issue. They haven't told me what package I'd be offered once I get permanent job their. Currently, they are willing to give enough stipend that I can live independently. They were quite glad to have me on board and the selection process was much easier. Online statistics show that their package after internship will be half of what Company A is offering me currently. In fact, even their senior programmers are paid lesser than that. I have always been interested in Game Development. I dream of being a part of Valve Corporation one day. But recently, I have explored and have become interested in some other areas of Computer Science as well, like Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. I have got a lot of suggestions that I must "follow my dream". But the point is, even if I join company A, I might eventually pursue my Masters in US and end up in a game development company. Plus, my dream is not limited to game development as mentioned earlier. There is only ONE thriving game development biggies in India, which is Company B. Which makes me concerned about its stability. In the past, major studios have opened in India and shut down in a matter of few years. I am not sure if the studio handles critical components of game development or is just provided with mundane tasks from Company B's main studios abroad. Guessing from what they offer, it doesn't seem like this Indian studio receives much funds. Which in turn indicates that they might not be working on crucial projects. But all this is just speculation. I have read online feedback and all their employees seem to be complaining about salary. This is not the case for company A. Company B's work will be related to Console Game development. The studio doesn't produce it's own titles ( Except for games on Android, which I am not interested in). I love C++. I always wanted to work in C++ because all major game engines like Unreal and Source use that language (one of the reasons). Company A's work is in Java while Company B's work is in C++ Python. But my close friends in IT sector tell me that switching between technologies is something that is quite common. If I plan to pursue Masters in US, Company B will make my admission chances in a Game Development course much easier and from there, I can go on to achieve my dream of working for Valve Corp. Company A has good reputation as well and I can get into vanilla Computer Science course. Since Game development companies don't necessarily require masters in Game Development, my aim seems quite achievable via this route as well. Quality of living for Company A seemsĀ  better as they are providing more benefits like reimbursement of flight tickets etc. Work environment for both the organizations if great. Is it possible for me to go for company A and later shift to game development and end up in Valve or like ? Also, my dream is no longer limited to Game development. I find ML and AI equally interesting would be glad to have a career in those fields. So following "my heart" is a very confusing suggestion.
