What is the best method for social search in real-time?

  • During the Twitter mouseover bug, I had a unique opportunity in communications for Hellotxt, whereby I could contact influencers in my social spheres to report that posts from Hellotxt remained a viable option. With Twitter a mess...I first looked to my Sentimnt account to search, but it is not in real-time. What other options are there that work well?

    http://search.twitter.com/advanced is one of the best tools for real time results - at least for Twitter.  You don't even have to have a Twitter account to use it.

While you have to actually have to have a profile setup to capture the data but I have found http://viralheat.com does a wonderful job with it's realtime blogs/websites feed you can see here http://viralheat.com/social_trends/profile/10271/Foursquare There is always Google Realtime http://www.google.com/realtime

I've been looking for similar services.  Twitter does have a real-time API that some services are utilizing, but access to Facebook is somewhat limited.  Lithium Scoutlabs appears to have a nice interface for monitoring real-time and they even have some sentiment analysis as well.  Radian 6 is another leader in the market, but I'm not sure what their ability to read Facebook real-time is. I would gladly pay a service for an application programming interface that was comprehensive - providing search and social real-time querying capabilities.  I hope one evolves soon!
