What is a good project management tool for notifying select people for every update in a project?

  • Here is the use case that I am trying to solve - would appreciate your advice on what product can be used to satisfy this requirement. Lets say that there are two groups of people: Group 1 has 5 people - lets call them Food Lovers. Group 2 has 8 people - lets call them Nature Lovers. The members of the groups should not be able to see the other members of their groups. Now, I want to create a "project" for each group. So the project for Group 1 is called Food. The project for Group 2 is called Nature. In this project there is a brief description of the project. Now, as soon as I post something in the Food project, all members of the Food lovers group should get a notification to check the project. They can now respond back to me with any questions. These responses should only be visible to me (project owner). Whenever I post an update to the Food project, all members of the Food lovers group should again get a notification about this update. Any suggestions if an existing product can satisfy these requirements?

    If you have that few people, you can just mass send updates by SMS? If not, have them subscribe to your RSS feed where any updates will be received to them?

You can try out http://www.proofhub.com in which you can categorize people in groups, use casper mode to hide their identity. In it whenever an activity is done an email notification is send. One can even set whether he wants an immediate email or email digest after certain duration of time or not receive at all.
