Who are the best wholesale companies on the internet?

What Internet-based companies who make the most money were founded by independent developers and not employees?

• I noticed that "all" internet based companies that make a lot of money (include Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, etc.) were founded by independent developers and not by those who've never programmed before (business men or marketers).  There are only people with experience as a developer that are owning those internet based companies. Why don't we see businessmen/marketers/or other entrepreneur that have no experience as a developer who would have hired developers to make their ideas ? The only counterexample that I found was Soundcloud, it was made by two artists that were not in the developing area, any other counterexamples?

  Before you can create a business, you have to have an idea for a product.  And that comes from technology, not from a P&L statement.
