What corporate business behaviours are criminal?

What is the best way for a small business (service provider) to get corporate clients?

  • e.g. If I had a pizza business, how would I reach out to the corporate customers, esp. if I dont have the salesforce to call every single business in my region? Are there vendor management companies that can introduce small businesses to corporate clients? are there companies that provide perks to corporate customers? Will appreciate any guidance.

  • Answer:

Build your network. I would start by looking at the people you know. Determine if anyone can make introductions for you. If not, you will need to work to connect with the potential client. Determine which companies in your area are the best fit for your service and start making calls. Another option is to understand how those companies find service providers - is it through an RFP process, reputation, etc. You will have to do legwork to target your efforts. Yes, there are companies who provide this type of service and it is worth researching for cost and ROI.

You could host a free one-off corporate event to showcase what your pizza business is capable of providing to these corporate clients. Send a blanket email invitation to the clients in your area that you wish to target. Advise that numbers are limited and provide an RSVP date by return email. Limit the number of attendees per company to ensure you get a wide cross-section to market to, but at the same time allow enough people per company to attend to create a social atmosphere. Make sure you get a full-house in attendance.   Free pizza can get them through the door once, but you will need to wow them enough to be easily remembered the next time they are looking to pay for pizza. From there you can establish an ongoing relationship, mailing list etc.   All the Best,   Laurie Mahoney http://www.TrueProfitsMethod.com

Networking! Networking is the most powerful thing to bring you close to corporate clients. I remember being hesitant to go to networking events... I avoided it like the plague. How stupid of me. I wished I had come out of my comfort zone sooner, because when I finally decided to attend, I was shocked to notice that it was much easier to meet with corporate prospects, and get to know them better, which ultimately opened the door to high paying clients. I suggest go to http://meetup.com and find networking events and join them. You'll be surprise at the results. Make sure you carry lots of business cards with you. :-)

If you register your self as a small business. Many corporations are required to provide some small portion of work to registered small businesses. You will be eligible to bid for those contracts and get into the larger corporates.

One way to get a call into every single business in your region is to hire a virtual receptionist to do your outbound calling.  Davinci Virtual Office Solutions offers outbound calling through a Virtual Receptionist team that can work on letting companies know you're out there while you work on providing for the business that is generated from the outbound calls.  Check out how inexpensive it is at http://www.davincivirtual.com/receptionists
