What do people think of Code Academy's web application course?
-
Chicago's Code Academy. How rigorous is it? How useful is to to developers who already understand the fundamentals of web application development?
-
Answer:
Learning web application development in 12 weeks is definitely rigorous, but we make it even more fun. Our program has two web development classes that run 10 hours per week. However, a big key to the program is "outside of class" work, so our students can put in as many hours as they want to. Even though we are "beginner-focused" we do have a number of people with programming experience. We had people with backgrounds in Java, PHP, http://asp.net, etc., but since they don't know Ruby on Rails, they still wanted to do our program. So if you have experience, but don't know Rails, then Code Academy would be a great fit!
