if you know any one front end language like .Net or java and database knowledge like sql or access. This can be very helpful in the masters degree programme. I strongly suggest you know advance excel with macros and vba as mandatory.

STATISTICS. Oh god, statistics. Markov chains. Tolerance stacking with probabilities... the list goes on and on... and on. Like the original poster said, Access and Excel w/ macros would be helpful as well. Other software programs that were used at ASU were JMP, AnyLogic, and Arena (old, hopefully has been replaced by AnyLogic by now).
