What is banner networks?

Are there any mobile ad networks that can geo-target "house" campaign banner ads more precisely than the country level?

  • We are a large location-driven social networking app available on iOS and Android. We currently mediate among Google AdMob and Millennial for banner ad content. Each network allows us to allocate traffic to ads we can publish directly (so-called "house ads"). Unfortunately, neither network allows us to precisely geo-target house ads. The highest precision we can get is country-level with AdMob. We want the ability to geo-target house banner ads at the state or region level. Are there mobile ad networks that provide this degree of precision?

    Yes. allows you to pass lat/long into the SDK and you can target whatever way you want. I haven't done it yet, but plan on using this functionality extensively. I'll update the answer when I have more data. One other note, MoPub is a demand mediation/ad serving layer, not really an ad network although they do have their own source of ad demand.

At Jumptap, we don't have a specific house ad piece of functionality.  We can run ads only on your app and deal with the bookkeeping separately, but we can target any ad down to the MSA in the US [Edit: and certain ads down to zip level.  We are also in the process integrating PlaceIQ.  Jumptap cares very much about hyperlocal targeting.  Thanks Therran!] If this interests you, reach out to me and we can try to work it out.

There is a startup called PlaceIQ (http://www.placeiq.com) that I work with as well. This company has a very robust data set of lat/long variables with an extensive taxonomy to choose from and break down the data. If you would like some contact information for them, feel free to message me. It's not household targeting (no one in mobile is there yet) but it is hyper-local.
