Is "The North Face" a good brand?

Is The North Face brand continuing to decline?

  • Years ago they made camping equipment, then the name was sold to a big conglomerate.  Then they became fashionable.  Then they spread to all the department stores.  Then there was the The South Butt fuss. Is this a consistent decline or just movement from specialist item to established brand?

  • Answer:

I wouldn't think they're declining. I go to a pretty large high school (about 4,500 students) and about 50% of the student body either has a The North Face backpack or jacket, so that's more than 2,000 students at my school alone who have tons of The North Face products that have been bought within the last 2 years. That's just one high school in New Hampshire. They might not be as focused on their old brand image, but they still make quality products. And considering the exorbitant prices that no one seems to mind paying, I'm sure they're not declining.

While TNF is a large company, they still continue to make premier, technical, innovative equipment and apparel for outdoor athletes.
