What is the best free tool to convert .ppt to video format that is compatible with HTML5?

  • I want to convert my presentation (.ppt) to .webm, .mp4 or other formats that are compatible with HTML5. Powerpoint always converts the .ppt to .mov. So I have tried converting the .mov to .mp4 using the free tools. But the ones I tried provide conversion for half the original length. I would like to know the best free tool to do that.

    I would say, use a tool like Camtasia, it should export to .mp4 natively. For .webM this is another matter, and you might have to re-encode your .mp4 to .webM with Google's encoder.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Another resource: http://firefogg.org/ is a Firefox extension which will encode .mov file to either .webm or .ogg (compatible formats for HTML5). I have used this encoded .webm file and its working on Chrome, but not on Firefox. I need to check what's going on there.
