What are the cut-off marks?

In BITSAT 2014, the cutoff is increased by 18 marks as compared to 2013. The cutoff is 299 marks. How much increase in marks is expected after 3rd round as compared to 2013? What are some guesses/ideas/analyses?

  • Answer:

I won't be surprised if the cutoffs this year actually go below previous year's cutoff. This is because the final list is declared after the reporting day. Since as for now cutoffs are way too high many students are not getting there desired branch in BITS. Once you report for admission, you forfeit the entire admission fees of more than 1 lakh. So if they are getting there desired branch in any other college ( NIT etc) they would not like to report.               In 2013 and earlier years, JEE mains and advanced results were declared along with or before BITS result so students had clear cut options. This year, mains result was declared after the 2nd list and advanced result just a couple of days before. So, not wanting to take risk, many of us submitted the admission fees(hence the high cutoff). But now with mains and adcanced result out the situation is this-they have to choose between cent percent sure desired stream in  XYZ college and not so sure undesired stream in BITS. Chances are they may go with the former choice.        At the same time, I accept I might be taking the entire thing out of my ass :p       P.S.- I agree with the previous answers. The cutoff will not increase by more than 7 marks in any case. It should fall down to around 273 . (Last year it was 266 )
