What are some tips to increase the quality of product reviews on your site?

    Of course verifying that your reviewers actually own and use your product is a good idea. I don't think requiring a minimum length review is such a great idea: what if someone simply wants to write, "Love it!" Why discourage that? I would not do your third idea: cherry-picking your reviews costs you credibility, and anyway wouldn't you want your users to be honest about your product? You're better served by politely addressing complaints and making your product better. Take the high road. Plus, I'm not sure users who want to vent are necessarily going to write a different type of review simply because other reviews are 'high quality.' I think the two simple answers are 1) make your product the best it can be and address potential concerns / complaints proactively, and 2) treat your reviewers with respect, provide thoughtful responses and help, and create an environment where users feel they've been heard.
