Is the performance in Google's internship interviews taken into consideration while evaluating a candidate for conversion into a full time position?
-
I recently got an internship offer from Google. I think I am a borderline candidate i.e., just made it through the interviews and wouldn't count on getting great reviews. What would be the impact of these internship interview evaluations when I would be considered for a full time role?

Answer:
Let me explain the whole intern conversion process of Google here. Once you've finished your 3-month internship at Google, you will have 2 conversion interview usually at the last week of your internship assuming you are qualified for intern conversion. The conversion interviews will be almost the same as full time interviews and it should be slightly harder than your intern interviews. After that your full package will submit to the hiring committee to make the final hiring decision. Your package mainly include: 1. Interview feedbacks including your internship interview, 2. Feedback from your intern host 3. Other info like your school, GPA, past experiences etc..Apparently the most important part is your internship feedback, which is the most accurate and straightforward evaluation of your work. So if you want to make up for your poor performance of internship interview, you should definitely work hard during the summer. Then your conversion interview feedback will be more important than that of your internship interview as they are more recent. So I would highly recommend you spend some time preparing for that (I know it can be quite busy during your internship). In short, being an intern means you got a great chance to convert to the full time position at Google since AFAIK the conversion rate is pretty high. Even if you feel that you didn't do well in your interview, it's totally fine as they are not the most important part.
